Leo established the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation

Well, do you know Leo established the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation in 1998 with the purpose of protecting the Earth's last wild places and implementing solutions to build a more harmonious relationship between humanity and the natural world?

In addition to this, he is also an honorary board member of the International Fund for Animal Welfare, IFAW.
He takes matters of the environment very seriously. From protecting sharks in California and elephants in Africa to supporting the transition of our society to clean, renewable energy, Leo has really taken environmental conservation by the helm.
Here's another fun fact: A journalist from TIME magazing once called Leo boring for being able to recite the names of 20 endangered species on earth from his memory. Here's the article if you want to read it, Breaking News, Analysis, Politics, Blogs, News Photos, Video, Tech Reviews - TIME.com
Here's something else about Leo and his love for the environment. DiCaprio celebrated his birthday in 2013 with a charity bash featuring people like Kanye West and was able to raise $3m for his environmental foundation. How about that!!
Besides the environment and his foundation, here are a few more interesting facts:
  1. His father is a comic book dealer
  2. Leo donated $2800 to Obama's presidential campaign, which is the highest an individual can contribute to a campaign.
  3. At one point of time, he and his closest buddy Mark Wahlberg could not see each other eye to eye.
  4. Do you know Leo is technically a father?! Well, on the sets of Blood Diamond, he adopted a South African baby girl he met in an orphanage and sends her a monthly check as well as speaks to her regularly over the phone.
  5. DiCaprio is a gay rights activist and in April 2013 donated $61,000 to GLAAD, an organization which promotes the image of LGBT people.
  6. In 2010, DiCaprio donated $1m to the Wildlife Conservation Society at Russia's tiger summit. DiCaprio's persistence in reaching the event after going through two plane delays caused Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to describe him as a "muzhik" or "real man"
